Crystal Gulledge, the owner of Diamond in the Lotus Yoga, is an RYT 500hr yoga instructor who has been teaching yoga since fall 2016. She especially enjoys creating yoga sequences for asana practice with a Vinyasa yoga style and then adding in yoga psychology.
Every Sunday morning, you can find her teaching a 60min Soul Flow Vinyasa series online, 11:30AM -12:30PM. This class slows the traditional flowing, linked postures (vinyasas), allowing the student to properly and safely align the body and to let the breath initiate the pose. Grounding poses coupled with mindful meditation and pranayama begin the journey within. The experience culminates in final relaxation, often with a short guided meditation. This all-level class is designed to both de-stress and challenge the body and mind – perfect for those who wish to better understand Vinyasa Flow at a mindful pace or for more seasoned practitioners to refresh their understanding of the poses and boost their practice by perhaps experiencing the classic poses in a new way.
Crystal got into yoga through her aunt when she was a high school student going through some tough times. She continued her practice into adulthood. During times of mental health issues such as anxiety and depression, her yoga practice and spirituality led her forward. "Yoga has been a rock in my life, continuing to remind me about the mind-body-soul connection." Even in the most challenging of times, with compassion and kindness as her guiding principles, the yoga philosophy continues to remind her to take care of herself first and then others. So she named her studio after her favorite mantra, the universal mantra of love and compassion: Om man Padme hum – meaning "Hail, the Jewel in the Lotus.".
